Welding & Hot Works (Steel Construction)

Welding, cutting, grinding and heating hot works including MMAW, MIG and TIG welding, oxy-fuel cutting and heating, and associated grinding in workshops and on site.

Objective

Complete the work safely by controlling fire ignition, welding fume, arc-eye and burns, electric shock and oxy-fuel hazards through a hot work permit, clearance and fire watch, local exhaust ventilation and respiratory protection, and proper electrical and cylinder controls.

This is the Steel Construction version. The hazards and controls are written around steel construction work, so it differs from the other 2 trade versions of Welding & Hot Works. Compare all 3.

When you'd use this SWMS

If welding & hot works (steel construction) is part of your job, the builder or head contractor will usually want a SWMS for it before you start on site. This one's editable in Word. Add your company and site details, check the hazards and controls against the actual job, and get your crew to sign on before work starts.

Doing the whole trade? The Steel Construction pack bundles this with the rest and works out cheaper. New to it? Here's what goes in a SWMS.
