Handrail Installation (Steel Construction)
Installation of handrails, balustrades and edge barriers to stairs, landings, mezzanines and exposed edges, including measuring, drilling, fixing and finishing.
Objective
Complete the work safely by controlling falls more than 2 metres at the exposed edges being protected, services strike when drilling and coring, and manual handling through edge protection or fall arrest, service location and mechanical aids.
This is the Steel Construction version. The hazards and controls are written around steel construction work, so it differs from the other 2 trade versions of Handrail Installation. Compare all 3.

When you'd use this SWMS
If handrail installation (steel construction) is part of your job, the builder or head contractor will usually want a SWMS for it before you start on site. This one's editable in Word. Add your company and site details, check the hazards and controls against the actual job, and get your crew to sign on before work starts.
Doing the whole trade? The Steel Construction pack bundles this with the rest and works out cheaper. New to it? Here's what goes in a SWMS.
